The short answer: the best riads in Marrakech medina are small (8 to 15 rooms), a few lanes back from the noise, with a roof terrace and a clear answer on how you reach the door and how far you walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa, when the riad publishes it. Below are five, from about €70 a night, that publish enough on their own websites to be judged, with what each confirms and what you still have to ask. For the bigger question of which neighborhood to pick at all, start with our guide to where to stay in Marrakech, area by area.

Key takeaways

  • A good Marrakech medina riad is judged first by its location: a few lanes back from Jemaa el-Fnaa, with a walking time the riad publishes itself.
  • Taxis cannot reach most riad doors, so the distance from the drop-off matters as much as the décor.
  • Of the five riads in this shortlist, three publish a walking time to Jemaa el-Fnaa and three a nightly rate on their own websites, as of October 2026.
  • Mid-range riads near the main sights listed for about $90 to $190 a night for a double on Booking.com in September 2026.

How we chose the best riads in Marrakech medina

We kept a riad only if its own website, read on October 3, 2026, confirmed four things:

  1. An address inside the medina walls.
  2. 15 rooms or fewer. Small enough for the staff to know every guest.
  3. A pool or a roof terrace. Outdoor space matters in a house with few windows onto the street.
  4. Facts stated by the riad itself. Room count and facilities come from its own pages, not from a listing. We do not publish guest scores: they change every week.

Three other things matter just as much, but the websites are uneven, so we show them riad by riad:

  • Walking time to Jemaa el-Fnaa. Three riads publish one, from about 4 to 20 minutes. Le Riad Yasmine and Le Farnatchi do not.
  • How you reach the door. Riad El Hara says it is car-accessible, and Riad Vendôme & Spa says a member of staff meets you at the nearest drop-off point. The other three do not explain it.
  • The nightly rate. Riad Vendôme & Spa, Riad El Hara and Le Riad Yasmine publish one; Riad Dar Anika and Le Farnatchi do not.

Where a fact is missing, it goes on your list of questions to ask before you book. Noise was not measured: only a night there would tell you.

This is a short list, not a ranking of every riad in the city. None of these five riads has been reviewed in person yet: the picks rest only on what each riad publishes. Each price carries its date and stays in the currency published: euros for the riads, dollars for the Booking.com ranges.

We have not tested these arrivals ourselves: ask each riad for a map pin of the drop-off point, and whether someone can meet you there with your luggage.

The lane a riad sits on changes your stay more than its star rating.

Couples weighing a riad against a hotel will find more options in where to stay in Marrakech for couples.

Families: ask about the pool and the stairs. Most riad pools sit open in the courtyard, and stairs are steep. Le Riad Yasmine lists children under 3 as free and charges €20 a night for children under 12, as of October 2026.

FAQ

What are the best riads in Marrakech for families?

Riads that let you rent the whole house, or that have ground-floor rooms and a taxi stop nearby. Riad El Hara offers whole-house rental and car access; always ask whether the pool is fenced.

Which small riads in Marrakech suit a couple?

Small ones, with eight to twelve rooms around a quiet courtyard and a pool to come back to in the afternoon. Le Riad Yasmine and Riad Dar Anika fit that description.

How far from Jemaa el-Fnaa should a riad be?

There is no fixed distance: a few lanes back from the square, at a walk you are happy to make every evening. Further out, around Bab Doukkala, you usually get quieter lanes and a road nearby. Of these five, Riad Dar Anika says about 4 minutes, Riad Vendôme & Spa 7 minutes by its own count (about 1 km), and Riad El Hara about 20.

How much does a riad in Marrakech medina cost?

About $40 to $85 a night for a simple riad and $90 to $190 for a mid-range one, double room, on Booking.com as of September 2026. On their own sites, Riad Vendôme & Spa starts at €70 and Riad El Hara at €110. Le Farnatchi does not publish rates.

Is breakfast included in Marrakech riads?

Often, but not always. Riad El Hara includes it, served on the roof terrace; Riad Vendôme & Spa charges €5 a person. Always confirm on the listing.
